Mahindra Electric Automobiles Limited (MEAL), the electric subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, has divulged additional insights into its forthcoming lineup of Electric SUVs.
During its ‘Futurescape‘ event held in Cape Town, South Africa, Mahindra presented more comprehensive information, including launch timelines and powertrain specifications, for four of its upcoming electric SUVs. The event also marked the unveiling of a distinct ‘infinity‘ iteration of its logo, designed exclusively for this electric SUV range.
Mahindra has unequivocally confirmed that all the forthcoming electric SUVs will be underpinned by the INGLO platform. Moreover, the event comprehensively disclosed the intricate specifications of the electric motors that will propel these SUVs.
This automotive brand is gearing up to introduce a series of four novel electric SUVs between the timeline spanning December 2024 and April 2026. Each of these electric SUVs will be rooted in the INGLO platform and architecture, marking a significant step forward in Mahindra’s electric mobility endeavors.
XUV.e8 and XUV.e9
The inaugural electric SUV set to roll out from Mahindra’s stable will be the XUV.e8, anticipated to grace the scene in December 2024.
Following suit, the Mahindra XUV.e9 is slated to follow, aiming for an April 2025 debut. This rendition is poised to embrace a sportier essence compared to the XUV.e8, possibly sharing akin mechanics and interiors with its predecessor.
Both the Mahindra XUV.e models are slated to harness a motor sourced from Valeo, capable of delivering an impressive peak power of 170 kW (231 hp), accompanied by a substantial maximum torque of 380 Nm. This powertrain promise ensures a compelling performance for these upcoming electric SUVs.
Born Electric BE 05 and BE 07
The BE 05, an electric SUV measuring 4.4 meters in length, will be at the forefront of Mahindra’s BE lineup. Its official launch is scheduled for October 2025, promising an enticing addition to the electric vehicle market. Accompanying this, an off-road-oriented variant dubbed the BE Rall.e will provide adventurous enthusiasts with a specialized option.
Following closely, the Mahindra BE 07 is slated to step onto the scene, making its entrance in April 2026. Positioned as a luxury SUV spanning 4.6 meters in length, this model was initially planned for an October 2026 release, but it has been expedited by six months to meet the market sooner.
Under the hood, both the Mahindra BE.05 and BE.07 electric SUVs will harness the prowess of front and rear-mounted motors procured from Volkswagen (VW). The motor affixed to the front axle will deliver an impressive peak power of 80 kW (109 hp), complemented by a maximum torque of 135 Nm. Meanwhile, the rear axle-mounted motor will elevate the performance, boasting a formidable peak power of 210 kW (286 hp), backed by a robust maximum torque of 535 Nm. This strategic powertrain configuration is set to create a compelling driving experience for these forthcoming electric offerings.
Additionally, Mahindra disclosed that their electric SUVs will come outfitted with a 79 kWh LFP cell battery, a strategic choice that aligns with the existing LFP applications prevalent in the market. This battery configuration is not only advantageous but also caters to the growing demand for such solutions. The innovative battery is designed to support fast charging, boasting an impressive capability to recharge from 0 to 80% within a mere 39 minutes. This feature ensures a swift and convenient charging experience, enhancing the practicality of the upcoming electric SUVs.
Sounds Designed by AR Rahman
Mahindra has also disclosed an exciting collaboration with the renowned Oscar-winning Music Director, AR Rahman, who will be responsible for curating the auditory experience of its forthcoming lineup of all-electric models. These vehicles will be outfitted with a cutting-edge Harman Kardon sound system, featuring advanced technologies such as Dolby Atmos, 3D surround sound, and active noise cancellation. The interior of these models will showcase a trio of expansive 12.3-inch screens that span the dashboard’s width, creating an immersive visual interface. Additionally, a heads-up display will project augmented reality visuals onto the windshield, further enhancing the driving experience. The vehicles will incorporate advanced connected car technology, boasting onboard 5G connectivity, Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, and Level 2 Autonomous driving capabilities. This fusion of cutting-edge features promises to elevate the driving experience to new heights.
