Rumors are circulating that Mahindra is venturing into the electric vehicle market with an electric version of their popular Thar model. The company is reportedly planning to unveil a prototype of the electric Thar at an event in South Africa on August 15. This move aligns with Mahindra’s ambitious plan to launch 5-10 models in various categories, including trucks and pickups.
The new Mahindra Thar Electric is said to feature a 4*4 set-up with a quad-motor engagement, where two motors will power the rear wheels and the other two will power the front wheels. An intriguing carb walker feature is rumored, allowing all wheels to turn up to 45 degrees.
In terms of design, the Electric Thar may opt for a lightweight body, considering the petrol variant’s substantial build. However, Mahindra’s expertise in the commercial sector leaves room for speculation. As of now, concrete information regarding the vehicle’s launch date and pricing remains unavailable. Nevertheless, Mahindra promises an exciting new concept that distinguishes the electric Thar from its petrol counterpart. These two vehicles will be built using entirely different technologies, making them unique despite sharing the name and appearance.
Indeed, it is exciting to anticipate what Mahindra has in store for us. We will keep you informed with all the latest updates from the August 15 session in South Africa. Stay tuned for the latest news and developments on the unveiling of the electric Thar and other exciting announcements from Mahindra.
