In 2023, Maruti Suzuki will introduce not one but two all-new sport utility vehicles to the Indian market. At the 2023 Auto Expo in January, the firm will unveil the new SUV Coupe, codenamed YTB, together with the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV. The Jimny is scheduled to hit the market in the middle of 2023, while the YTB will debut in the spring of that year. The Baleno Cross, also known as the YTB, will use the HEARTECT platform and be powered by a 1.0-liter Boosterjet gasoline engine mated to a manual and automatic transmission. The Jimny, on the other hand, will be offered with a choice between a manual and an automatic transmission paired with a 1.5-liter, 102-horsepower K15B gasoline engine.
In 2023, Toyota will release a new SUV Coupe based on the future Baleno Cross, joining the Grand Vitara and Hyryder. The new SUV Coupe will likely take design inspiration from the Yaris Cross that Toyota sells in various countries across the world. When compared to Maruti’s YTB SUV Coupe, the new model will stand out thanks to its swoopier window line, shorter rear quarter glass, angular roof-mounted spoiler, and lengthier trunk lid. The 1.0L Boosterjet turbo gasoline engine from Suzuki will power the vehicle, and it will also have mild hybrid technology. A 1.2-liter Dualjet gasoline engine, available in both manual and automatic transmission, is also a possibility for the SUV Coupe.
In 2023, Mahindra plans to release two new sport utility vehicles: the Thar 5-door and the XUV400 electrified. Pricing for the XUV400 will be made public in January 2023, with shipments starting by the end of the month or the beginning of the following month. It has an electric motor located in the front and is powered by a 39.4 kWh battery pack. As advertised, it provides 150 horsepower and 310 Newton-meters of torque. Supposedly, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 8.3 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 150 kilometres per hour before reaching an electrical restriction. According to the manufacturer, it will travel 456 kilometres on a single charge. The release of the Thar 5-door is scheduled for the middle of 2023. It will have a larger trunk and extra legroom for passengers in the second row thanks to its stretched wheelbase. Both the 2.0L naturally aspirated (NA) gasoline and 2.2L turbo-diesel, paired with a manual or automatic transmission, will continue to power the SUV.
In 2023, Tata Motors will release updated versions of the Harrier and Safari SUVs. Both cars will most likely make their debut at the 2023 International Auto Show in January. The interior and exterior of the new models will be updated. All of the latest safety technology, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane assist, and more, will be standard on the updated Harrier and Safari. A more capacitive touchscreen infotainment system may potentially be included in the SUVs.
In 2023, Hyundai will release not one but two new SUVs: the updated Creta and the Ai3 subcompact SUV. Both vehicles will most likely make their world premieres at Auto Expo 2023. The new Hyundai Ai3 subcompact SUV will be on sale sometime around the middle of 2023, competing with vehicles like the Tata Punch and the future Maruti Baleno Cross. The new vehicle will use the K1 platform and include a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with both a manual and automatic transmission. It is anticipated that the updated Creta would debut in the first half of 2023. Improvements to the exterior and interior design, as well as advanced driver assistance systems, are in the works.
In 2023, Kia India will offer a refreshed version of the Seltos. The new model will have a redesigned exterior, a more feature-rich interior, and a panoramic sunroof. In addition, it will have adaptive cruise control and other advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like those seen on the updated Creta. The new model will likely feature a CNG fuel option in addition to a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine.
Honda has announced that they would be releasing a new compact SUV in the country in the year 2023. To compete with vehicles like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder, a new model based on the new City platform is in the works. In the new model, we anticipate seeing a 1.5-liter gas-powered motor paired with e:HEV powerful hybrid technology.
