Opel Crossland EV Spied

2024 Opel Crossland EV Spied: Opel’s All-Electric Subcompact Crossover Is Coming!

Stellantis is expanding its lineup of electric crossovers, and the latest addition is the next-gen Opel Crossland, which was recently spotted undergoing testing on public roads. The distinctive lightning stickers on its psychedelic camouflage, the absence of tailpipes, and the closed-off grille all indicate that it will feature a battery-electric powertrain.

The shift to the eCMP (electric Common Modular Platform) means that the new Crossland will share components with other electric vehicles within Stellantis, including the Peugeot e-2008 and the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense. While specific details about the drivetrain are limited, it is expected to feature a single-motor unit with power outputs ranging from 134 to 154 horsepower (136-156 ps/100-115 kW) and battery packs with capacities of 50 and 54 kWh.

In addition to the electric version, an internal combustion engine (ICE) model is also expected to join the Crossland lineup. This ICE variant may utilize the 1.2-liter mild-hybrid engine found in the Corsa supermini, offering two power levels: 99 horsepower (100 ps/74 kW) and 134 horsepower (136 ps/100 kW). However, the ICE-powered Crossland is likely to have a limited availability as Opel plans to transition to electric vehicles in Europe by 2028.

Visually, the prototype of the next-gen Opel Crossland resembles the Citroen C3 Aircross, but it will feature distinctive Opel design elements such as the brand’s Vizor face, unique headlights and taillights, and revised bumpers. The quarter panels, door design, and lower body trim are also expected to differ from its French counterpart. The new Crossland has a boxier profile compared to the outgoing model, which suits its overall styling.

While the interior remains concealed in the spy photos, it is expected that the next-gen Crossland will undergo significant changes compared to its predecessor. Anticipated upgrades include a larger infotainment system, a digital instrument panel, enhanced technology features, improved safety systems, and possibly a higher level of interior build quality. The vehicle is also expected to be slightly larger than the current model, likely providing more legroom for rear-seat passengers and increased cargo space.

Further details about the next-gen Opel Crossland are expected to be revealed as its official premiere date approaches, which is anticipated to be sometime next year.
