Toyota Fortuner

Toyota Fortuner Over 1000% More Popular Than MG Gloster, Despite Being More Expensive

In theory, these two SUVs may be considered competitors, but there’s an indisputable leader in terms of popularity. According to the latest sales data, the Toyota Fortuner enjoys a staggering 1000% higher level of popularity compared to the MG Gloster. While both SUVs belong to the same market segment on paper, the gap in their appeal and demand is truly remarkable. On one hand, the Fortuner has maintained its position as the top-selling product in the 7-seat off-roading category in the country for several years. At one point, its only substantial rival was the Ford Endeavour. Regrettably, Ford has ceased car manufacturing in India. On the other hand, the Gloster is a luxury SUV that offers all-wheel-drive capability and potent engines. However, it may not possess the same level of ruggedness as the Fortuner.

Toyota Fortuner vs MG Gloster – Sales Comparison

Based on the official sales data for August 2023, MG achieved sales of only 240 units for its premium Gloster SUV. In the same month, Toyota achieved an impressive 2,825 units in sales for the Fortuner. This represents a staggering difference of over 1000% in sales between the two SUVs. It’s almost unbelievable that these two vehicles belong to the same market segment. This stark contrast underscores the Fortuner’s exceptional popularity and success in our market. It’s worth noting that the only true competitor for the Fortuner in India, the Endeavour, is no longer in production, solidifying the Fortuner’s uncontested reign in this category.
