Toyota Belta: Rebadged Maruti Ciaz

Toyota and Maruti Suzuki have worked together to produce the Baleno and the Vitara Brezza, both of which have been rebadged as the Toyota Glanza and the Toyota Urban Cruiser. The Belta is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz being developed by Toyota.

The Toyota Yaris is no longer in production. Despite dealers’ claims that the vehicle is still in stock and will sell for the next several months, consumers are expected to shift their focus to the larger and more affordable Toyota Belta in the near future. Like other Toyotas that are built on the Maruti, this one should do well in the marketplace.

Why Toyota has ruled out its Yaris?

The Yaris sold poorly since it was never a genuine rival to the more affordable Honda City, Hyundai Verna, or Maruti Ciaz. The Yaris was a commercial failure since it was pricey and lacked in desirable features.

Since Yaris sales peaked at 871 units in March of this year, 2021, they have consistently failed to break into the triple digits.

As manufacturing makes way for Maruti and Toyota’s fighting SUV in front of Hyundai, an SUV on which both companies are betting big, the Yaris will be discontinued as well.

What to expect from Toyota Belta

There won’t be any big changes to the exterior or inside, but the Toyota Belta could get some new alloy wheels and variant badges. There will be a lot of rivalry for compact and midsize automobiles like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, and VW Vento.

The current 1.5-liter four-cylinder K15B mild-hybrid petrol engine seen in the Ciaz will carry over into the Toyota Belta. Under the hood, it generates 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm at 4,400 rpm as its maximum power and torque, respectively.

The Ciaz has a five-speed manual transmission as standard equipment and an optional four-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
