As one of India’s most triumphant automotive brands, Mahindra & Mahindra holds a prominent position as the nation’s largest SUV manufacturer. With the launch of renowned SUV models like the Scorpio and the XUV 700, the company has also ventured into the electric vehicle landscape, introducing offerings like the XUV 400 EV. This Indian automotive powerhouse remains resolute in its optimism for the future within its home market, showcasing a steadfast assurance that remains unshaken even amidst Tesla’s entry into the Indian electric vehicle domain. Mahindra’s confidence is substantiated by a history of resounding successes, positioning the brand strongly to stand its ground and compete in this evolving automotive landscape.
Company Confident of Maintaining Leadership Position

As of now, Mahindra & Mahindra’s electric vehicle lineup comprises two models. Notably, the Mahindra XUV 400 EV was recently unveiled, drawing its inspiration from the XUV 300 while featuring an expanded wheelbase. The brand’s commitment to electric mobility has been a longstanding endeavor, facilitated by robust financial resources and bolstered by incentives provided by the Indian government, which actively advocates for electric vehicle adoption. Worth noting, the Indian government extends a range of incentives aimed at promoting electric vehicle ownership.

Mahindra Ready to Provide Stiff Competition to Tesla
The Indian automobile sector is abuzz with anticipation due to Tesla’s impending entry. However, Tesla will need to present a compelling product at a competitive price point to thrive in India. Positioned as a robust contender, Mahindra stands ready to be Tesla’s formidable rival in the Indian market. The brand’s recent performance has been notably commendable, marked by substantial growth over successive quarters. Beyond its conventional SUV offerings, Mahindra has witnessed a surge in electric vehicle (EV) sales. In July 2023, the company achieved a remarkable milestone, recording its highest monthly sales at 55,928 units. This feat was propelled by flagship models such as the Mahindra Thar, Scorpio-N, and XUV700, contributing 10,202 units, 10,126 units, and 9,375 units, respectively. Bolstered by this impressive trajectory, the brand is poised to sustain this momentum in the forthcoming years.
