Revving Up the Roads: Honda City Hybrid Set to Take India by Storm

Honda Cars India is gearing up to launch the highly anticipated Honda City Hybrid in the near future, according to Senior Vice President Rajesh Goel. The company aims to introduce this model to the Indian market before the end of the next fiscal year, with expectations of setting a new benchmark for fuel efficiency in the country. Although currently available in Malaysia, the official release date for the Indian market is set for next year. The Honda City Hybrid is highly anticipated and is poised to revolutionize the automotive industry in India.

Honda City Hybrid Mileage

The mileage of the Honda City Hybrid in India is expected to be close to that of the vehicles sold in Malaysia and Thailand. It is anticipated that the Indian version’s fuel economy will be similar to that of the Thai and Malaysian models, at around 27 km/l. It remains to be seen, however, how well the Honda City Hybrid performs in actual driving conditions in terms of fuel economy.

Honda claims that the City Hybrid would have an efficiency of more than 27 kilometers per liter, making it the most fuel-efficient car in its class in the country.

Honda City Hybrid Engine and Motor

The new hybrid automobile is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The 98 bhp produced by the gas engine is surpassed by the 109 hp produced by the electric motor. The torque output of the gasoline engine is 127 Nm, while that of the electric motor is 253 Nm.

How the Honda City Motors work

Honda i-MMD, the same hybrid technology used in the international spec Honda CR-V hybrid and the new generation Honda Jazz sold in other countries, is standard equipment in the City hybrid. The new Honda City Hybrid is powered by two electric motors and a conventional gas-powered engine. The first electric motor is a helper and integrated starter generator (ISG) built into the gas engine; the second motor actually turns the wheels.

Features to come in Honda City Hybrid

The new Honda City will come loaded with the most cutting-edge convenience and safety technology available. Included in this list are:

  • Rear disc brakes
  • Electronic parking brakes
  • Remote engine start
  • ADAS radar based safety features
  • Honda Lane Watch
  • HILL START ASSIST (HSA)
  • AUTO BRAKE HOLD (ABH)
  • 6 AIRBAGS
  • VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (VSA)

Honda City Hybrid price estimate

There is little doubt that the Honda City Hybrid will be more expensive. Even though the car itself will be produced in India, several parts of the hybrid system will be brought in from elsewhere. This car could end up being quite pricey after factoring in import duties and related fees.

Both the fourth- and fifth-generation Honda City are available for purchase from the company in India. Its newest model has a price tag that goes from Rs 11.16 lakh to Rs 15.11 lakh. The price of the hybrid is predicted to be between 17.5 and 20 million rupees.
