Get Mahindra Thar with Rs 1 lakh discount: Here’s how

This report may come as a surprise, given that sales of the Mahindra Thar (both the rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models) are skyrocketing. To move the MY2022 Thar petrol AT 4WD, which is the least popular variant of the lifestyle SUV, Mahindra is currently providing aggressive discounts.

The gasoline AWD 4×4 Mahindra Thar has normally priced at Rs 15.82 lakh, but is now available with a cash discount of Rs 45,000. If customers do not want to receive the Rs 45,000 cash discount, they can instead receive a Rs 60,000 accessories package. In addition to these features, the Thar petrol AT 4WD comes with corporate bonuses of Rs 10,000 and exchange bonuses of Rs 15,000. CarWale provided this data.

Moreover, this Thar comes with a three-year maintenance plan and insurance. While these perks are worth almost Rs 1 lakh, they are exclusively available on the MY2022 Mahindra Thar petrol AT 4WD stock. No other Thar variant receives any of these savings.

The second-generation Mahindra Thar, released in 2020, has been a success from day one. The introduction of rear-wheel drive models resulted in a doubling of Thar sales, and that trend continues to this day. While diesel-powered models remain popular, demand for gasoline-powered variants has declined. The Thar’s 2.0-liter gasoline engine has been criticised for its poor fuel economy, which has led to a decline in the SUV’s popularity.

Mahindra Thar 4X2 launched

In January 2023, Mahindra expanded the Thar portfolio, which up until then had only been available with a basic four-wheel drive system, to include models with a rear-wheel drive configuration. Those interested in the Thar’s road presence and macho appeal, but not its four-wheel-drive hardware, can opt for the rear-wheel drive models, which come in diesel-manual and petrol-automatic configurations.

Wait times for the rear-wheel drive Mahindra Thar have grown to nearly 18 months as its reduced starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh attracts more buyers. Even the four-wheel-drive Thar diesel has a wait time of approximately four months.

The Mahindra Thar may be purchased with your option of three different engines: two diesel and one gasoline. The 1.5-liter 115 PS diesel is standard on the rear-wheel drive model, while the 2.2-liter 130 PS diesel is reserved for the four-wheel drive model. Meanwhile, a 2.0-liter 150 Hp turbocharged-petrol engine is available for the Thar in both the RWD and 4WD configurations.
