The Altroz Sport, which will make its premiere at Auto Expo 2023, will reportedly be powered by the Nexon’s 120PS, 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine.
- Tata Altroz Sport variant to debut at Auto Expo 2023.
- 120PS turbo-petrol engine will make it the most powerful Altroz ever.
- Will get cosmetic tweaks to stand out from regular Altroz.
- No changes underneath the skin expected when it comes to handling.
The Altroz i-Turbo with its 110PS, 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine is now the best alternative to choose if you want a fun-to-drive model. Also, although being faster than its NA petrol sister, it is still one of the slower turbo-petrol hatchbacks. In response to demand for a more potent Altroz, Tata will unveil the Altroz Sport at the Auto Expo.
Our information is that the Altroz’s Sport trim will share the Nexon’s 170Nm of torque and 120 horsepower with its 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine. We anticipate that the Nexon’s TA78 six-speed manual will replace the five-speed manual found in the i-Turbo in this application. The Altroz’s engine is comparable to the Hyundai i20 N Line in terms of performance, so it should suit the needs of customers who want a more potent vehicle.
The Altroz Sport trim, in contrast to the i20, which has a six-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT), will include a traditional manual gearbox. However, there will be no auto-select feature available. The i20 N Line is equipped with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, for your information.
For the hatchback to really stand out from the regular Altroz, we anticipate certain visual changes from Tata. Thus, you may anticipate modifications to the bumper, new badging, and possibly even the application of body decals. As an alternative, it might rest on a different family of alloys. The hatchback may receive interior upgrades and special badging to distinguish it as the sportier Altroz.
No underlying alterations are planned at this time. That’s a shame, because the Altroz is already a top contender when it comes to driving dynamics. As a matter of fact, when pitted against the i20 N Line and Toyota Glanza, the Altroz i-Turbo came out on top in our enjoyable ride and handling test.
One of the most exciting things to see at Tata’s booth at the Auto Expo 2023 will be the Tata Altroz Sport, along with other vehicles like the Punch EV, updated versions of the Harrier and Safari, and maybe even refined versions of the Curvv and Avinya ideas.
