2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Prices | Pictures

On LT trims and higher, the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 gets a major interior update with a 13.4-inch touchscreen and a standard 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The front fascia and grille get a small touch-up as well. The ZR2 trim is new. It has hardware designed for off-roading, like front and rear differential locks, special dampers, and a higher ride height. The diesel engine is now available with the max towing package, and the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets more power. The SuperCruise feature is now available on the High Country trims. The Silverado 1500 Limited (LTD) is a model that will still be available in 2021.

CHOOSING YOUR CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500

There are nine trims available. In order of hierarchy, they are Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ, and High Country.

ENGINE CHOICES

The 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine gets a lot of changes to reduce noise and vibration, and the transmission’s shift program is changed to make downshifts happen faster and more smoothly.

Four-wheel drive is standard on the Trail Boss and ZR2 trims. If you don’t want it, you have to pay an extra $3,600 for it. The basic four-wheel-drive system has a transfer case with a single speed and an automatic four-wheel-drive mode. If it isn’t already there, the $945 Off-Road Suspension Package adds a two-speed transfer case.

The EPA estimates that the rear-wheel-drive diesel gets 26 mpg combined, while the ZR2 guise only 15 mpg. For the 6.2-liter V8, you have to use premium gasoline.

PASSENGER AND CARGO CAPACITY

There are a lot of different ways to set up the cab and bed, but it’s not a free-for-all. The standard cab is only available in Work Truck trim, the crew cab is only available with a short or standard-length bed, and the Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, and High Country models are only available as crew cabs. The ZR2 trim level comes with a crew cab and a short bed.

The regular cab/standard bed is 211 inches long, while the crew cab/standard bed is 241 inches long. The popular crew cab/short bed setup is 232 inches long, which is only an inch shorter than the Ford F-150.

In the extended cab rear-wheel-drive configuration, the 2022 Silverado can tow up to 13,300 pounds. In the more popular crew cab four-wheel-drive configuration, it can tow up to 13,100 pounds with the 6.2-liter V8 and the max trailer towing package. People who like spark ignition will be happy to know that the maximum towing package is now available with the diesel engine. This means that the diesel engine’s maximum towing ratings have gotten a lot better for 2022 and are now very close to those of the gasoline powertrains. Between 1,870 and 2,280 pounds of weight can be carried.

If you want to use your half-ton to its fullest capacity, the F-150 has slightly better ratings.

The ZR2 model has a suspension that focuses on articulation and absorbing bumps. It can pull up to 8,900 pounds and can carry up to 1,480 pounds.

Inside, the front seats have 66 inches of shoulder room, and 43 inches of headroom, and the back seats have 40 inches. The rear legroom in the extended cab is 35.2 inches, while it is 43.4 inches in the crew cab.

SAFETY FEATURES

The basic 2022 Silverado 1500 comes with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, the following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams. The $1,035 Work Truck Safety Package has blind-spot monitoring, and the $990 LT Safety Package has rear cross-traffic braking with a pedestrian alert, rear park assist, and GM’s safety alert seat. These features come standard on the ZR2, LTZ, and High Country trims. The High Country also has adaptive cruise control or hands-free highway driving assistance.

The IIHS has not yet rated the 2022 Silverado, but the NHTSA has given it four stars.
