While the addition of the CX-50 to the lineup this year will create sibling rivalry between the CX-5 and CX-50 in the same showroom, Mazda nevertheless intends to sell both models for the time being. Rhodium White is a new possible exterior color for the 2023 CX-5, but otherwise, it is essentially unaltered from the previous year’s model.

The 2023 CX-5, available in stores that fall, will come in eight different trim levels. The only exterior paint choice for the 2023 model year that is more expensive than the 2022 model year is the $595 Soul Red Crystal Metallic paint. The 2023 model year also adds Rhodium White to the list of premium colors.

The CX-5 offers two EPA estimates for fuel economy due to its two engine choices. The EPA estimates 24 city mpg and 30 highway mpg for the standard 2.5-liter engine. The fuel economy for the more powerful turbocharged engine is only 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the interstate.

Each unit features a 10.3-inch infotainment screen that is controlled mostly by a rotary controller and a volume knob located in the center stack. Voice commands and steering wheel buttons are additional interface inputs. In this day and age, Android Auto and the Apple CarPlay interfaces are factory-installed necessities.
