Ayesha Coker, Vice President of Marketing for Porsche Cars North America, expressed her enthusiasm for featuring the hero car at Rennsport Reunion in Monterey this September. She praised the unwavering commitment of the Porsche Classic team in preserving the car as a vital piece of Porsche history and ensuring its continued functionality post-filming. Coker underscored the significance of unveiling the vehicle at Rennsport Reunion 7, known as the largest Porsche gathering in the world.

The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 is an exceptionally rare and historically significant automobile, with only 55 units ever produced. To safeguard the original models from any potential harm during filming, the movie production utilized five meticulously crafted replica cars that faithfully replicated the appearance of the 911 Carrera RS 3.8.

Each of these replica cars was purpose-built to serve specific roles in the film, ranging from high-speed reverse driving to intense stunt sequences and detailed artist-focused scenes. Each vehicle played a pivotal part in bringing the Transformers storyline to life on the big screen.

In a bid to capture the authentic engine sound for Mirage, the filmmakers relied on a real 911 RS 3.8, recording its distinctive exhaust note to provide an authentic auditory experience for viewers. Coker emphasized the meticulous attention to detail involved in replicating the genuine sound, a testament to the filmmakers’ dedication to delivering an immersive cinematic experience.

In addition to Mirage’s Porsche 911 Carrera, the 2023 Rennsport Reunion also serves as a celebration of Porsche’s 75th anniversary. It will mark the US debut of the Mission X, Porsche’s latest all-electric hypercar concept, and feature the Porsche Vision 357 Speedster, a contemporary interpretation of the iconic classic Porsche 356 Speedster from the 1950s.
