The Tesla Cybertruck may appear like it was delivered by aliens, but it can compete with any other popular pickup truck on the market. Tesla’s all-electric truck is built like a tank, with a sleek exterior composed of stainless steel that is impervious to scratches and dents.

The Cybertruck has a projected range of more than 500 miles, can tow up to 14,000 pounds, and is equipped with all-wheel drive. However, that is for the most expensive version; the base price for the other models begins at $39,900. There is, of course, plenty that we don’t know about the Cybertruck at this time, including when it will really be on sale. Despite repeated setbacks, Tesla CEO Elon Musk reiterated on April 7, 2022, that the truck is on the way and will be available in 2023.

Now, the pickup truck, one of America’s most beloved vehicle configurations, will join Tesla’s inventory. Given the popularity of pickups in the United States, the Cybertruck affords the corporation a product with high market potential thanks to its remarkable statistics for both an electric vehicle and a pickup. But right from the bat, it has to go up against the likes of the Ford F-150 Lightning, the GMC Hummer EV, and the Rivian R1T. Silverado from Chevrolet will go electric within the next few years, and Ram promises a pickup truck-style EV by 2024.

Tesla Cybertruck Price

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, unveiled the new Cybertruck’s pricing at a presentation in Los Angeles: $39,900 before incentives, with two additional all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants priced at $49,900 and $69,900.

In addition, the v10 beta version of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving features has begun rolling out. Presently, the FSD option is available to Cybertruck users for an extra $10,000.

Pre-orders have reportedly been predominantly for the dual motor and tri-motor variants. The single-motor model, which was expected to be available initially, has only received about 17% of the total pre-orders.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

Three electric motors, not two, are offered for the Cybertruck. In contrast to the two- and three-motor variants, the single-motor truck only has rear-wheel drive. Tesla says it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 110 mph.

The dual-motor Cybertruck can supposedly go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds and continue on to a top speed of 120 miles per hour. The three-motor version, which Tesla claims can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds (!) and has a top speed of 130 mph, is ideal for those seeking maximum performance. Every Cybertruck has a height-adjustable air suspension that allows for a ride height of up to 16 inches. When combined with the Tesla pickup’s 35-degree approach and 28-degree departure angles, it has the potential to be an extremely capable off-roader.

Towing and Payload Capacity

If Tesla’s statements about the Cybertruck’s towing capacity are accurate, it will have a greater maximum rating than competitive vehicles like the Ram 1500. Models equipped with a third motor will be able to draw 14,000 pounds, much above the maximum tow ratings of the current single- and dual-motor Teslas (which are 7,500 and 10,000 pounds, respectively). Each Cybertruck has a 6.5-foot cargo bed that can carry 3500 pounds.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

Tesla has been cagey about the size of the batteries that will power its electric pickup. A 250-kilowatt charging cable, however, will come standard with every model. Superchargers, Tesla’s network of charging stations, will naturally be available to it as well. Tesla claims that its single-motor model has a range of 250+ miles, its dual-motor model boasts 300+ miles, and its top-tier tri-motor system should deliver more than 500 miles on a single charge.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe

We can only go by Tesla’s rough estimates until official ratings for the Cybertruck become available. Its lofty claimed range won’t be put to the test until we get our hands on a production device. Check out the EPA’s website for more on the Cybertruck’s gas mileage.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Anyone who found the Tesla Model 3 cabin sparse will be reminded of their feelings when they step inside the Cybertruck. There is a lot we don’t know about the standard features and extras, but the first photographs show a slab-like dashboard with a single massive touchscreen as the primary control device.

It appears that the squared-off steering wheel contains an illuminated display of some kind, but this is unconfirmed. The cargo bed of the Cybertruck is 6.4 feet long and has a volume of 100 cubic feet, so it can easily transport large items. In addition, it boasts a clever tailgate that slides out to become a ramp for loading motorcycles and ATVs.

The Cybertruck’s infotainment system, like most of its interior, is shrouded in secrecy. All models, however, will feature a massive 17-inch touchscreen that sits horizontally in the middle of the dashboard.

The exterior of the Cybertruck is constructed to be extremely tough and safe for passengers. From the Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless-steel structural skin to the Tesla armour glass, the entire exoskeleton is built for maximum strength and durability.

The Cybertruck vault, located in the bed of the Tesla Cybertruck, is 6.5 feet long. If you need to store an item that is too tall for the “vault,” simply unroll the top.

The images below show that the design is quite futuristic, possibly more so than any production-ready concept car in recent memory. Even yet, if this is the vehicle you bought, you shouldn’t expect too many changes from Tesla before it arrives at your door.

The Cybertruck is known for its Tesla Armor Glass, which is designed to withstand even the most powerful of foes’ heavy objects.

The glass broke during the unveiling. But Elon explained that it wasn’t the fault of the glass itself because someone had broken it before the event.

Because of recently submitted design patents, we can now trace many of the origins of the Cybertruck’s ideas.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Despite the fact that no add-ons are formally available, there is much conjecture regarding how the Cybertruck’s versatility could be expanded.

Musk has promised that the electric ATV Cyberquad will be available for purchase alongside the truck. The camper configuration was announced in November of 2020.

In May of this year, a user interface patent revealed what the Cybertruck’s interface may look like while towing, along with a camping unit similar to the one shown below. And a third-party artist’s depiction of a possible pop-up trailer sold for $50 million… furthermore, it does not even exist at the moment.

The Cybertruck has long been speculated to have a custom trailer, although no evidence of this has ever materialised. Images included in the patent application suggest that a trailer for pulling larger vehicles could be an early accessory for the Tesla.

Musk has also proposed the possibility of installing solar panels on the roof, which would allow for a daily range of up to 15 miles. Commuters could make it all the way to work in that amount of time. In May, Tesla’s patent application for a solar bed cover with retractable panels brought up the topic of solar power again.
