Which is the most value-for-money trim?
There are seven different Sportage models available, but they all share the same base 2.5-liter inline-four engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. Want to know why we think the EX models are the best in the lineup?
All the essentials are included in the EX grades, including a huge infotainment touch screen display with android auto, apple car play, navigation, synthetic leather upholstery, alloy wheels, driving modes, a rearview camera, and lane keeping/following assist.
These amenities are expertly implemented and worth the extra cost of the EX trim level. As a result, this is the material we’ve decided offers the best bang for the buck.
What is the launch date of Kia Sportage in India?
The Kia Carens, the company’s newest offering, has been selling well and rising in popularity, keeping Kia competitive in India’s 20-lakh market. Kia’s Carnival is the most costly product there; it sells well but has not captured a sizable portion of the market. It hasn’t quite broken through yet. According to the 2022 sales graph, the Carnival performed between the 239 and 355 point.
Kia has decided not to enter the Indian market with its international products at this time after analysing consumer preferences. Nonetheless, the Kia Sportage’s debut in India might be in 2023 or 2024, and the Kia Telluride’s might be around the same time.
What are the exterior colour options?
The Kia Sportage Compact Crossover SUV is offered with 14 different colour schemes, Of which 11 are single tone and 3 are dual tone colours.

Exterior and Styling
The Kia Sportage’s styling is reminiscent to Hyundai’s latest offerings. Both the new Tuscon and Creta follow this design language in their production. Kia calls it United Opposites, whereas Hyundai calls it Sensuous Sportiness.
The new fifth-generation model is a significant departure from the outgoing model; it features a revamped front end with a blacked-out tiger-nose grille, LED daytime running lights in a boomerang shape, and inside headlights. Sharp angles and slits decorate the back of the front bumper, and a large air dam ensures that the Sportage can breathe.
Body cladding is done all over the car for a better look and dust/rock protection, and 17-inch chrome/blacked out alloy wheels are put into the big wheel arches on the Kia Sportage’s side profile. The window trim and the bottoms of the doors are chrome, while the rest of the vehicle is a solid body colour. Although it’s upsetting, roof rails are not included in all trim levels and must be purchased separately.
The backside has a more gentle slope, leading from the shark fin antenna to the high-mounted spoiler. LEDs, but a plastic component, power the taillights and are connected to one another by a narrow strip. The bumper at the back is elevated and has a silver finish that is reminiscent of tiger nose grilles.
Interior and Comfort
There won’t be much of a difference between the new unit and the old one outside the obvious: a newer version of infotainment touch screen display, media controls, and gear knob. The gear selector is a focal point or even the major attraction of the cabin. It’s a dial, and you can change the gears by turning it in either direction (as in the Kia Seltos facelift).
The dashboard’s central section is somewhat skewed towards the driver seats, for improved controls and safety, and it features a luxurious motif with soft leather elements. The armrest bins are deep and air-conditioned, and the centre console is roomy enough to accommodate a cup holder. Chrome accents can be found throughout the Kia Sportage’s cabin, including on the steering wheel, dashboard, centre console, and door pads.
The seats are ergonomically designed to keep the passenger in the ideal driving posture while also providing maximum comfort on lengthy trips. Support from the base and side bolsters is generous, and the air flow feature makes driving in the heat a breeze. Despite long periods spent in the driver’s seat, passengers report feeling no tiredness. This is largely due to the seats’ impressive depth and holding power.
The cabin is spacious enough that all five of the allotted occupants can sit comfortably. For beverages of any size, the rear seat centre arm armrest incorporates cup holders.
The cabin never seems closed in thanks to all the glass, and if there was any lingering doubt, the panoramic sunroof will put a grin on your face. Two persons can walk out of the sunroof with ease due to its generous size.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Kia Sportage’s infotainment system includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and Kia Connect. The instrument panel is also equipped with GPS, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Sportage has a high-quality 400-watt Harman Kardon sound system with 8 speakers for its audio output. The infotainment system features SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth wireless technology, and hands-free calling capabilities.
The infotainment system includes a rearview camera, an Android auto interface, an Apple CarPlay interface, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, speech recognition, and a digital clock.
The Kia smartphone application features controls for the vehicle’s ignition, air conditioning, doors, and sunroof. Particularly useful is the air conditioner’s pre-entry temperature control, which reduces the car’s interior temperature to a more comfortable level before the driver or passenger ever gets inside.

From the front fascia out, you’ll find LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs), auto wipers, automatic headlights with headlight assist, alloy wheels on the sides, full body cladding, window chrome line, roof rails, LED tail lights, and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera.

Engine, Transmission, and Power
The Kia Sportage can be equipped with either a 6-Speed manual or an 8-Speed automatic transmission. The base engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder. The engine has a top power output of 187 hp at 6100 rpm and a top torque production of 241 Nm at 4000 rpm. The engine features Eco, Normal, and Sport modes, while the All-Wheel-Drive system is only available on the X-Line model.
The engine provides sufficient power, the gear changes are seamless, and there is little any turbo lag. The power output is consistent up to 8,000 rpm, but after that it struggles to keep up. The motor has a strong beginning reaction and becomes a rocket when it reaches the turbo range.
The engine never feels sluggish or underpowered, even with a full load of five people on board; nonetheless, some engine noise is audible at high speeds and revs. But it won’t detract from the fun you’ll have behind the wheel, and it might even give the car a sportier vibe.
Only the X-Line, the third trim level up from the base, comes standard with all-wheel drive and the snow mode. If you have a recovery vehicle, you can do some light off-roading in an AWD, but you can’t use it as a proper off-roader.
The Kia Sportage can reach a maximum speed of 209 km/h, with acceleration times of 8.3 seconds from rest to 60 km/h and 9.2 seconds from rest to 100 km/h.
Mileage, Range, and Fuel Tank Capacity
The Kia Sportage is a quite heavy SUV with a gross weight of 2120-2199 kgs, and mileage can become an issue. The Sportage delivers an overall mileage of 9.78-11.9 km/l mileage in all drive conditions.
Kia Sportage Mileage in km/l:
Driving Conditions | km/l |
---|---|
City | 9.78 km/l |
Highway | 11.9 km/l |
Combined | 10.63 km/l |
Kia Sportage Mileage in mpg:
Driving Conditions | mpg |
---|---|
City | 23 |
Highway | 28 |
Combined | 25 |
The fuel tank capacity of the Sportage SUV is 56 liters/14.8 gallons and the range band is 640-672 kilometers. It completely depends on the road condition and the driving behavior. If someone drives it with a light foot that it can even deliver 14.15 kmpl of mileage.
