Since the Nosovice plant opened in 2008, Tucson has accounted for 70% of production; so far this year, nearly 40% of HMMC’s production has been HEVs, PHEVs, and BEVs.
Another one million vehicles have been produced at Hyundai Motor’s HMMC plant in Nosovice, Czech Republic. The first million was produced in 2013, the second in 2016, and the third in 2019. HMMC manufactured vehicle number 4,000,000 on Monday, November 14.
The Hyundai Tucson N Line marked a turning point in the company’s history because it was the first mild-hybrid vehicle ever built for a customer in Olomouc, Czech Republic. HMMC has kept up a steady rate of production despite the pandemic, disruptions in the global supply chain, and other outside factors. The company anticipates producing over 321,000 vehicles this year, which would be more than it produced in the “pre-pandemic” year of 2019.
“Both our staff and our vendors are to be commended on the impressive ways they have met the challenges of the past few years. Cheol-Seung Baek, President of HMMC, expressed his pleasure at reaching yet another major milestone thanks to his staff’s efforts and talent. When considering the difficulties currently facing the automotive industry, it is clear that the Noovice plant is of critical importance to Hyundai Motor Group.
The growing number of electrified cars being produced
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing (HMMC) recently completed the production of its four millionth electric vehicle, which reflects the current electrification trend. The plant had only made internal combustion engine vehicles up until 2019, but in early 2020 it started making the Hyundai Kona Electric, making it the country’s first mass-produced BEV.
The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson kicked off the production of hybrid and fully electric vehicles in Nosovice in the middle of 2020. Meanwhile, only 9% of HMMC’s output this year consists of vehicles powered by diesel engines, a significant drop from previous years.
So far this year, nearly 40% of HMMC’s production has been electrified cars, which includes HEVs, PHEVs, and BEVs, and this share will continue to grow in the years to come.
Cars produced at HMMC are not only for Europe
More Tucson than any other Hyundai model have been built at Nosovice since the plant opened in 2008. About seventeen percent of HMMC’s output is the i30 lineup, which includes the hatchback, wagon, and fastback body styles, while ten percent is the Kona Electric. The remainder is accounted for by the award-winning i30 N, which is available in hatchback and fastback body styles.
Over 14% of models produced by HMMC so far this year have been shipped to Germany. This is followed by the UK, Spain, and France. Due to its continued success in the market, Tucson has taken the top spot among Europe’s compact SUVs in 2018. Hyundai’s best-selling model is manufactured in Nosovice, Czech Republic, and shipped not only to the Middle East but also to other parts of the world. Autos manufactured by HMMC have been shipped to 66 different countries so far in 2022.
Martin Klcnk, Head of HMMC’s Production Division, said, “We increased the production line speed from 57 to 65 cars-per-hour in April this year, and we have been able to maintain this even though we have to deal with a difficult global parts supply situation.” There has been a lot of interest in HMMC’s automobiles, and the company is working hard to meet demand. New models will be manufactured in this country in the coming years, and we are getting ready for them.
