Land Rover Discovery Sport
Standard all-wheel drive and off-road technology feature borrowed from the more expensive models in the British brand’s lineup give the 2023 Discovery Sport genuine off-road prowess, making it a true Land Rover in every sense of the word. Superior to the BMW X3, Porsche Macan, and Mercedes-Benz GLC class in terms of off-road performance, the Macan drives more like a sports sedan on paved roads.
The power is sufficient from the turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but the ride is dull. The Discovery Sport may be specified with seven seats, which is unusual for a vehicle in this class, and its interior mirrors the style of the more expensive models in the lineup. When compared to other top competitors in the compact luxury SUV class, the Discovery Sport falls short.
Land Rover Discovery Sport Price

Land Rover Discovery Sport Colours
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is available in a total of six different hues: Firenze Red, Portofino Blue, Eiger Grey, Byron Blue, Santorini Black, and Fuji White.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Each Discovery Sport is powered by a 246-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Sport is equipped with standard all-wheel drive and a plethora of optional trail-rated equipment to ensure a smooth ride over rough terrain and protection from the elements.
The Disco Sport is capable of towing up to 4409 pounds and can even wade into water as deep as 23.6 inches for the brave. We put the 246-horsepower 2020 model through its paces and found it to be ponderous in our testing; the Disco Sport takes 7.5 seconds to reach 60 mph, and the throttle response is unresponsive. Don’t count on getting goosebumps on winding country roads because of the vehicle’s sluggish handling. The Discovery Sport has a pleasant ride quality that makes it ideal for long distance highway travel.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
EPA estimates for the Discovery Sport’s fuel economy are 19 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 20 mpg overall. The Land Rover is one of the most thirsty luxury compact SUVs on the market. Our motorway fuel efficiency test at 75 mph showed it to be particularly voracious, with a dismal 21 mpg. In our tests, the all-wheel-drive BMW X3 M40i achieved 29 mpg, while the all-wheel-drive Acura RDX and Mercedes-Benz GLC300 achieved 25 mpg.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The Discovery Sport upholds the luxury reputation of the Land Rover brand with a dashboard that looks like that of more expensive models. The interior has been upgraded with eco-friendly materials and various seating arrangements. Our test vehicle had seats that were sufficiently supportive for multiple four-hour drives.
Even the most basic models have features like automatic climate control, heated front seats, push-button ignition, and ambient lighting. Leather seating surfaces, front seats that can be adjusted 12 different ways, and a pair of jump seats in the third row are all available as extras. Behind its second row of seats, the Discovery Sport has a cargo capacity of 28 cubic feet. In comparison to the Audi Q5, that’s an improvement of three cubes, but it’s still less than the Cadillac XT5’s 30 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Discovery Sport comes standard with Land Rover’s newest Pivi Pro infotainment interface, which is displayed on a 10.0-inch touchscreen. A 4G LTE mobile hotspot, a head-up display, and in-dash navigation are all available extras, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. Land Rover provides two Meridian stereos as upgrades from the standard 180-watt six-speaker system: The first system features 10 speakers and 380 watts of power, while the second system has 14 speakers and 825 watts.
