Gloucestershire Police carried out operations targeting impaired and illegal driving over the weekend, resulting in several arrests and citations.
On Friday, covert officers hid behind trees in Up Hatherley, pulling over motorists for offenses like phone use, lacking paperwork, and driving under the influence of drugs. Fines and arrests were issued.
On Saturday, police continued the crackdown, stopping a drunk driver in Whitminster. Later that evening in Wotton Under Edge, officers made a significant drug bust, seizing a large quantity of suspected Class A drugs and cash after pulling over one driver.
One arrestee now faces 5 charges after being clocked speeding at 69 mph in a 30 zone without a valid license, insurance, or vehicle ownership consent. Drugs were also found in their possession.
Through these traffic operations, Gloucestershire Police aimed to take impaired and illegal drivers off the county’s roads and enforce driving laws. The investigations into those arrested are ongoing.
