Aston Martin DB12 Design & Styling

While the DB11 and the upcoming DB12 share certain design cues, the DB12 sets itself apart with its enlarged grille, repositioned headlamps, and a more robust bonnet structure. While some key elements like the distinctive C-shaped taillights are retained from the previous model, there are noticeable changes that catch the eye. The Aston Martin grille has been widened, and the headlamps have been redesigned, giving the exterior a more striking appearance. The new LED daytime running lights integrated into the headlamps add to its sleekness. Along the sides, sharper lines and a more prominent air vent extend from the front wheel arch, creating a distinctive design feature.

Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin, explains, “The DB12 represents our design interpretation of a Super Tourer. Historically, the GT designation for most enthusiasts has meant a combination of comfort, speed, and refinement. But since the Aston Martin customer is anything but ordinary, and our design philosophy goes beyond just creating objects, we’ve fused together every aspect of the DB12 – handling, dynamics, powertrain, sense of space, and styling – and we’ve pushed it to the maximum with technology to deliver this new category of performance-oriented design and driving experience.”

Interior

Inside, the Aston Martin DB12 offers an exceptionally luxurious interior, with one of its standout features being the state-of-the-art infotainment system. With the introduction of the DB12, the renowned car manufacturer has replaced the borrowed infotainment system from Mercedes-Benz with a bespoke system developed in-house. This new system comes with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Information is elegantly presented on 10.25-inch Pure Black screens, boasting high resolution and ultra-responsive capacitive touch controls with a rapid 30ms reaction time. Additionally, it offers a range of connected technologies and delivers a premium auditory experience through the Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

Overall, the DB12’s interior is designed with the driver in mind, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technologies with opulent craftsmanship and top-quality materials. Passengers enjoy a comfortable seating position below the shoulder line, with a central console that allows for effortless interaction with the ultra-luxurious cockpit, featuring modern display screens and interactive analog controls. Another highlight of the cabin is the lavish use of hand-stitched Bridge of Weir leather, with intricate quilting in the DB12’s interior showcasing meticulous attention to detail and elevating the overall ambiance.
