Tata Motors sales break down: Nexon, Punch, Tiago, Harrier, Safari, Altroz, Tigor

In July 2023, Tata Motors experienced a notable upswing, especially in its electric vehicle portfolio. The company secured the 3rd position among the top-selling Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in July 2023, boasting a remarkable sale of 47,630 units during the month, contributing to a substantial 13.5 percent market share. This performance marked a steady year-on-year (YoY) trend, aligning closely with the 47,506 units sold in July 2022. Additionally, the sales showcased a slight month-on-month (MoM) enhancement of 1 percent, progressing from 47,240 units sold in June 2023.

In July 2023, Tata Motors’ Nexon secured the top position in sales, even though it experienced a decline in both year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM) growth. The Nexon recorded sales of 12,349 units, indicating a 13 percent drop from the 14,214 units sold in July 2022. Similarly, MoM sales saw an 11 percent decrease compared to the 13,827 units sold in June 2023. However, Tata Nexon ceded its No. 1 status among the best-selling sub-4 meter SUVs to the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the newly introduced Fronx.

On a positive note, Tata Punch exhibited promising performance with a 9 percent YoY and 9 percent MoM sales growth, reaching a total of 12,019 units. This reflected a notable increase from the 11,007 units sold in July 2022 and the 10,990 units sold in June 2023. Following suit was the Altroz, which demonstrated a remarkable 38 percent YoY surge in sales. The sales figure stood at 7,817 units in July 2023, compared to 5,678 units in July 2022. Moreover, MoM sales displayed an 8 percent improvement over the 7,250 units sold in June 2023.

Tata Tigor, Harrier Safari Sales July 2023

Tata Tigor faced a significant decline in sales, both on a year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM) basis, experiencing drops of 51 percent and 20 percent respectively. Sales dwindled to 2,684 units in the preceding month, a significant fall from the 5,433 units sold in July 2022. Comparatively, there were 3,335 units sold in June 2023.

Anticipating the launch of Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts in October 2023, sales for both models witnessed YoY decreases, yet showcased marginal improvements on a MoM scale. Harrier’s sales took a YoY hit of 36 percent, recording 2,092 units in July 2023, a drop from the 3,254 units sold in July 2022. However, MoM sales showed a slight uplift of 3 percent from the 2,040 units sold in June 2023. Similarly, Safari saw a 4 percent YoY decline, selling 1,687 units in the past month compared to the 1,761 units sold in July 2022. On a positive note, MoM sales exhibited a marginal growth of 1 percent from the 1,663 units sold in June 2023.

Tata Motors’ car sales data for July 2023 presents a diverse range of performances across its various models. While certain models experienced growth, others encountered sales declines. The company’s strategic emphasis on electric vehicles is evident through the thriving sales of models like the Tiago and Nexon EVs, aligning seamlessly with the overarching industry shift toward sustainable mobility. Tata Motors has made significant strides in the realm of alternative fuel options with the recent launch of Altroz CNG, followed by the introduction of Punch CNG in India. Both variants are equipped with dual cylinder technology, enhancing their efficiency and performance. Notably, the Punch CNG boasts an impressive claimed fuel efficiency of 26.99km/kg.

Renowned for its prowess in the electric vehicle sector, Tata Motors has garnered prominence with models like Nexon, Tiago, and Tigor EVs.
