What features are available in the Lexus RX?

Modern Lexus safety features are installed in the vehicle. The five-seater car will have a Pre-collision System (PCS) that detects and brakes for both moving and stopped vehicles, a dynamic radar cruise control that works in all speed ranges, Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Auto High Beam (AHB), and Adaptive High Beam System (AHS) headlights, and much more. Additionally, the car is equipped with Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Safe Exit Assist features (SEA).

All-new Lexus RX: interior and features

In contrast, the RX’s interior takes a more minimalist and driver-focused approach in keeping with Lexus’ “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road” philosophy, with features like enhanced “Hey Lexus” voice control functions, proactive driver assistance systems, and touch controls that can be viewed and adjusted with minimal eye and head movement.

A 14-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard, with ‘always on’ connectivity to satellite navigation and cloud services for real-time traffic, accident, and road condition updates. In addition, there is wired Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless smartphone charging. The seats are heated and ventilated, and the interior, controls, and steering wheel are all made of vegan synthetic leather.

All-new Lexus RX: exterior design

The new Lexus RX features a wider track (15 mm up front and 40 mm in the back) and a longer wheelbase (6 mm). It also has a lower roofline (10 mm). The updated bodywork takes cues from the 2017 Lexus RZ electric SUV’s “spindle body” design and is based on Lexus’ Next Chapter design language.

When equipped with 21-inch wheels, Lexus claims that the RX’s revised proportions create a “coupé-like sensation” and a “confident posture.” The RX now has more streamlined LED headlights, and the highest trim levels get their own unique front grilles, side skirts, and front and back bumpers to set them apart.

Engine, performance, and specifications

A 2.5-liter inline-four mated to a hybrid transaxle and a rear E-Four electric motor provide a combined 244 horsepower in the Lexus RX 350h Luxury Hybrid. This powerplant is paired with a CVT that can be adjusted on the fly by computer. The car can reach 100 kilometres per hour from rest in 7.9 seconds.

Conversely, the RX 500h F-Sport Performance is the first Lexus model to include a hybrid electric powertrain, which combines a high-torque 2.4-liter turbocharged engine and an e-Axle rear unit to generate 361bhp and 460Nm of torque. This powertrain, together with the car’s six-speed automated transmission, can reach 100 km/h from rest in in 6.2 seconds.

Is the Lexus RX a safe car?

Euro NCAP has given the Lexus RX its highest possible rating of five stars.
