On January 11, 2023, the opening day of the Auto Expo will begin. On the first day of the biennial auto show, many different manufacturers will unveil new vehicles, with the most anticipated being sport utility vehicles.
Though few new SUVs will be available this year as several automakers chose to sit out the event. If that happens, there will still be a tonne of intriguing new options to explore. Here are the new sport utility vehicles that will be unveiled on January 11 from Maruti Suzuki to Lexus.
In India, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has already been released. The ex-showroom price of the company’s electric SUV will be announced on January 11. Similarly to the previously released Kia EV6, the Ioniq 5 is built on Kia’s E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) architecture.
A permanent magnet synchronous motor generates 214 horsepower and 350 Newton-meters of torque from the Ioniq 5’s 72.6 kWh high-density li-ion battery. Everything within the Hyundai e-SUV, from the dashboard to the seats, is environmentally friendly. The Ioniq 5 uses a minimum amount of plastic in its construction.
MG Hector facelift
The MG Hector SUV just had a makeover, and the new and improved model is much more stately looking than before. The basic outline is still there, but now there are more bells and whistles to play with. Included in the Hector SUV’s new set of five revolutionary technologies are adaptive cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and traffic congestion assist. Maruti Suzuki Jimny
Production models of the 5-door Jimny that Maruti Suzuki has been developing will make their appearance on the first day of the expo. The future Jimny, being a five-door variant, will very certainly have a longer wheelbase than the standard Jimny, which is only three doors.
Other than that, the SUV will keep its traditional tough and boxy appearance. A 1.5-liter K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 103.53 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque will be available for the Jimny 5-door, paired to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, a low-range transfer case is likely to be included in Suzuki’s AllGrip all-wheel drive system.
Lexus RX SUV
For the first time, Lexus will be present at the biennial automobile exhibition. Also making their first appearance together will be the LC500h coupe and the fifth-generation RX SUV. Expect the RX to be available in a 350h version. On the mechanical side of things, it will be propelled by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder hybrid engine capable of producing 246 horsepower. A limited edition of the Tata Harrier is planned for the 2023 Auto Expo. The new Harrier seems to resemble roughly the same as the heavily camouflaged test modules that have already been photographed in India. The front of the test module revealed what appeared to be a radar-like device, suggesting that it may be fitted with advanced driver assistance features. Functionally, it will likely retain the same 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, 6-speed manual transmission, and 6-speed torque converter that it debuted with. But it is not yet known whether or not the new Harrier would be available with Tata’s new 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine.
