Over the next year or so, manufacturers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, MG, etc., will release new sport utility vehicles in India.

1. Maruti Suzuki Jimny

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny, a compact SUV that will compete with the likes of the Thar and the Gurkha in India’s market, will make its debut in the country at the Auto Expo 2023. It will have a 1.5-liter K15C gasoline engine and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro all-wheel drive system, and it will probably cost around Rs 10 lakh.

2. Mahindra Thar 5-Door

The Mahindra Thar is a popular 4×4 SUV in India, and a new 5-door version of the vehicle is expected to be released soon. The new 5-door Thar will be bigger than the current Thar, and it will share the same platform and powertrain choices. In India, it will likely cost somewhere between 15 and 16 Lakh rupees.

3. Mahindra XUV400

In late January 2023, the new XUV400 will go on sale in the country, equipped with an electric motor rated for 110 kW and 310 Nm of torque. In theory, this motor can travel up to 456 kilometres (280 miles) on a single charge from its 39.5 kilowatt-hour battery pack. It will compete with the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and the MG ZS EV and is expected to cost between Rs 17 and 18 lakh.

4. Maruti YTB Crossover

The new YTB made its debut at the Auto Expo 2020 in Japan and will soon hit the streets in India. It shares the same platform as the Maruti Baleno and will be available to Indian consumers with the same range of engine and transmission choices. In India, the YTB is predicted to cost between Rs 7 and 8 Lakh.

5. MG Small EV

MG has just announced that it will introduce a new compact EV to the country, targeting consumers who are interested in purchasing a low-cost, high-utility electric vehicle. This new electric car in India is a two-door hatchback that will compete with vehicles like the Tiago EV. The British automaker promises additional information is coming soon.

6. Honda Compact SUV

Honda is known to be developing a number of different sport utility vehicles (SUVs), including a brand new compact SUV specifically for the Indian market. The new compact SUV will be based on the same platform as the Amaze sedan and will likely be powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated (NA) gasoline motor. It will compete with vehicles like the Hyundai Venue and the Kia Sonet in India, and it is expected to cost around Rs 8-9 lakh.

7. Next-Gen Hyundai Verna

With its new platform, updated exterior styling, and all-new cabin, the redesigned 2023 Hyundai Verna will be ready to take on the likes of the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia when it makes its debut at the Auto Expo 2023. In the local market, buyers can choose between a naturally aspirated (NA) 1.5-liter gasoline engine, a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine, or a 1.5-liter diesel engine.

8. MG Hector Facelift

The new MG Hector facelift, which has a refreshed front fascia and other new features, is also expected to debut in the country soon. The next generation will be slightly more expensive than the current model while maintaining the same cabin and powertrain choices.

9. New Honda Mid-Size SUV

To compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Astor, Honda is expected to release a new mid-size SUV as well. This SUV will be built on the same platform as the Honda City sedan and will be available with the same lineup of efficient and luxurious engines.
