Toyota Sienna Price: The brawny-for-a-minivan exterior design of the 2023 Toyota Sienna is an attempt at SUV cosplay, but even a casual glance in its direction reveals it for what it is: a minivan. That’s fine with us. We like how this minivan drives, with its quiet cabin and refined ride. Aside from the obvious practical benefits of a minivan, Sienna’s interior is spacious and well-equipped—though its second-row seats aren’t removable or stowable, as they are in other vans. The Sienna’s fourth generation is only available as a hybrid, with front- and all-wheel drive variants sharing the same 245-hp rating, which proved to be on the weak side in our testing. The Sienna’s combined fuel efficiency of 36 mpg is far superior to that of the other minivans on the market, but we’d much rather be driving the Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Odyssey, or Kia Carnival.

The 2024 Toyota Sienna starts at $37,185 for the LE trim, and goes up to $54,040 for the Platinum trim. All-wheel drive is available on the XSE, Woodland Edition, and Limited trims, and costs an additional $760-$2,000 depending on trim level.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Unlike previous generations of Toyota’s family van, the Sienna is only available as a hybrid. The powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and two electric motors that produce 245 horsepower. An all-wheel drive is an option that adds a third electric motor in the back to power the rear wheels. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Sienna’s main rival, is only available with front-wheel drive, but its V-6 engine and electric motors produce 260 horsepower. Our all-wheel-drive Sienna Platinum failed to excite us during acceleration testing, taking 7.7 seconds to reach 60 mph and 15.8 seconds to complete the quarter-mile at only 88 mph; these results are comparable to the Pacifica Hybrid but far slower than non-hybrid Pacifica examples we’ve tested, as well as the Honda Odyssey.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The EPA estimates that front-wheel drive Siennas will get 36 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, with all-wheel drive models getting 1 mpg less at 35 mpg. With our all-wheel-drive Platinum test vehicle, we achieved 29 mpg in a mix of city and highway driving. The interior of the Sienna is modern and stylish, complementing its daring exterior redesign. Rather than the previous generation model’s open cockpit design, Toyota has created a tall center console that spans the distance from the dashboard to the center armrest, with a large storage cubby underneath.

The sporty XSE model has black-and-white faux-leather seats with red contrast stitching, while the upscale Limited and Platinum models have two-tone interior trim and dashboards covered in stitched leather-like material. The Sienna’s second-row seats are not removable, unlike the Odyssey and Pacifica Hybrid; however, the optional second-row captain’s chairs can slide forward and back a total of 25 inches to help provide maximum legroom for rear-seat riders or to open as much space as possible aft of the second row for cargo. Second-row reclining seats with pop-up ottomans are available in Limited and Platinum models. The top two trim levels can also be outfitted with an onboard vacuum cleaner.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Toyota’s latest infotainment interface is a 9.0-inch touchscreen display that sits upright above the climate controls on the dashboard. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa connectivity are all standard, and the van’s cabin has seven USB ports. Toyota also includes a SiriusXM satellite radio and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. The base stereo has six speakers, while the XLE models have eight. A 12-speaker JBL stereo system is available as an option on the XLE and XSE but is standard on the Limited and Platinum. Starting with the XSE trim, in-dash navigation is standard; a rear-seat entertainment system with an 11.6-inch display is optional on all models except the base LE.

The Sienna is the most fuel-efficient minivan on the market, and it is significantly more fuel-efficient than other minivans, such as the Honda Odyssey (19 city/28 highway mpg) and the Chrysler Pacifica (19 city/28 highway mpg).
