Updating its all-wheel-drive, full-size SUV lineup, Hyundai keeps ahead of the curve with the 2023 Palisade XRT.

The Palisade’s design and interior have been updated by the South Korean automaker to maintain the vehicle competitive in a highly competitive market sector, and new convenience and driver aid technology have been incorporated.

A representative from Hyundai Motor North America stated, “The upgraded 2023 Hyundai Palisade has the design appeal and features worthy of Hyundai’s flagship SUV.” This statement was made by Olabisi Boyle, vice president of product planning and mobility strategy. “Palisade is the best choice for families looking for a versatile car for everyday driving and vacations that will last a lifetime.”

The front fascia has been redesigned to have a large, cascading grille that is bordered by vertical, composite LED lights. The expanded hood profile, the panoramic side glass graphics, and the 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels are all brand-new features.

The 3.8-liter V6 engine in my demo vehicle was mated to an eight-speed automated gearbox. It is estimated that at 6,000 rpm, the combination produces 291 horsepower and at 5,200 rpm, it produces 262 lb-ft of torque. The power is sufficient for towing heavy equipment.

As a matter of fact, the new Palisade is the first Hyundai SUV to have the company’s HTRAC all-wheel drive system, complete with a tow mode. Tow Mode modifies the powertrain’s characteristic to better accommodate towing, such as by staying in lower ratios for longer and decreasing the frequency of the vehicle’s response to shifts.

The EPA has given the Palisade a combined city/highway fuel economy estimate of 25 miles per gallon, and it has enough space for eight adults to travel in comfort. It’s a breeze to get into and out of the third row thanks to the One-Touch second-row seat, which slides forward and out of the way at the touch of a button.

The middle and rear rows of seats may be folded and unfolded electrically, and the third row has reclining seats for your comfort. Available seating options include captain’s seats for the second row. USB-C outlets have been installed for speedier device charging throughout the interior, providing further convenience for all passengers.

Third-row passengers now have access to heated seats, joining those in the front and second rows. The first seats on the second row are ventilated.

Wireless charging capability has been increased from 5 watts to 15 watts for faster device charging. Instead of carrying around a physical key, owners with digital key touch can simply use their iPhone, Apple Watch, or Samsung Galaxy smartphone to lock, unlock, and start their vehicle.

This model year brings several upgrades, including a Wi-Fi Hotspot, digital key touch, and a larger 12-inch navigation screen. And the latest driver aids including remote smart parking help, improved frontal collision prevention, and help when cruising on the highway.

The Palisade’s cabin was as quiet as a church and the full-size SUV drove like a sports car. When the third-row seats are folded flat, the cargo space is quite considerable. Traveling by car was meant for Palisade.

Palisade also boasts an extensive list of safety suite features, such as blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, safe exit assist, driver attention warning, high beam assist, navigation-based smart cruise control, lane following assist, highway driving assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, reverse parking collision-avoidance assist, and remote smart parking assist.
