2023 Hyundai Palisade Pricing, Specs | More Details

The Palisade has been a big hit for Hyundai because it has a nice cabin, a smooth ride, and enough room for the whole family. The brand’s most considerable SUV comes in a wide range of trims, from the value-oriented base model to the high-end Calligraphy model, which looks most like a Genesis GV80. Under the hood of the Palisade is a 3.8-liter V-6 engine that puts out 291 horsepower through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Many techs and connectivity features come standard on all models, while the top models have extras like a panoramic sunroof, in-dash navigation, and quilted leather seats. No matter which trim you choose, the Palisade’s cabin is roomy and comfortable enough for the whole family.

What’s New for 2023?

For the 2023 model year, the Palisade will get a facelift that will make it look more squared off. The new look is helped by new designs for the wheels and some new features inside. The Palisade’s dashboard has a 12.0-inch infotainment screen with a higher resolution, a new steering wheel, and updated upholstery options. There is now a Wi-Fi hotspot, heated seats in the third row, and a seat that massages the driver. A new XRT model with a rugged look and 20-inch wheels, blacked-out exterior trim, and other design details has been added to the lineup. The Palisade’s biggest rival has always been the Kia Telluride, which is mechanically similar to the Palisade. However, Telluride is also getting a makeover this year, so the competition is likely to continue.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The XRT model is new for this year, but the SEL with the Premium package would be our pick for the Palisade. It adds many of the SUV’s best tech and luxury features, like a bigger infotainment screen, in-dash navigation, and Hyundai’s most advanced driver-assistance features.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The Palisade has a 3.8-liter V-6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. With 291 horsepower, the engine is fast enough for a vehicle like this. The Palisade’s transmission can be changed by hand using paddles on the steering wheel. The gearbox changes gear smoothly on its own, but when going up hills, it changes gears quickly. All-wheel drive is optional on the SE, SEL, and Limited trim levels, but it comes standard on the top-of-the-line Calligraphy. Front-wheel drive is standard. All Palisade models come with a transmission cooler, pre-wiring for a trailer, and sway control as standard features. When the trailer hitch is put on by the dealer, it can pull up to 5,000 pounds. We tested an all-wheel-drive SEL at our test track, and its acceleration wasn’t anything special. In our tests, it took the Palisade 6.9 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, and it took 182 feet to stop from 70 mph. It was a little faster than the Telluride, but it was slower than the Chevrolet Traverse.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The EPA says that the Palisade with front-wheel drive gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. When the Palisade has all-wheel drive, it gets 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Our all-wheel-drive SEL model only got 23 mpg on our 200-mile highway test route, even though it was rated for 24 mpg.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The SE and SEL trims have room for eight people, but the Limited and Calligraphy have captain’s chairs in the second row, which means they can only fit seven people. No matter what, there is plenty of room for people in all three rows. There is a button in the second row that moves the seat forward, making it easy to get to the third row.

The doors keep out most of the noise from the road, but a lot of wind noise gets in. Seats in the second and third rows that fold up automatically are an option on the SEL and come standard on the Limited and Calligraphy. When all the seats are folded down, the Palisade has 86 cubic feet of space for cargo.

In our tests, 33 carry-on suitcases fit in the Palisade. When the second row is up and the third row is folded down, there are 46 cubic feet of space. Using the third row, the volume goes down to a small 18 cubes. Under the load floor, you can put things that are dirty or wet. There isn’t much room in the door pockets, but there is a decent amount of space in and below the center console.

Infotainment and Connectivity

All trims come standard with a 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, in-dash navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth connectivity. There are up to seven USB ports, and you can connect two Bluetooth devices at the same time. When the Palisade is equipped with Hyundai’s Blue Link app service, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant can be used to lock, unlock, and start the car from afar.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

On higher trim levels, you can add nearly every advanced safety system on top of what comes standard. Visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) to learn more about how the Palisade did in crash tests. Some important safety features are:

  • Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Standard adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Hyundai has one of the best warranties in the business. The powertrain is covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles for the first owner of the car. The company also now offers free scheduled maintenance, which is better than major competitors like Toyota.

  • A limited warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
  • Powertrain warranty covers 10 years or 100,000 miles
  • Complimentary maintenance is covered for three years or 36,000 miles
