The 2023 Ford Ranger: Everything You Need to Know
The market for midsize trucks is about to change a lot. The new Frontier has already been shown to us by Nissan. Soon, Chevy will drop a new Colorado. We are all looking forward to the next-generation Toyota Tacoma. But we’re also looking forward to the all-new Ford Ranger, which should be in stores next year. Ford made us want to see more by showing us the global model first.
Here’s what we know about the American-made Ranger pickup truck.
Last November, Ford showed off the global Ranger. The version for the U.S. should look almost the same. The biggest change will be that the truck will look boxier and more sculpted, which is more in line with what people want from a modern truck. It will also have design elements that make it look like the new F-150 and Maverick pickup trucks.
2023 Ford Ranger Price Expected
Ford hasn’t said anything about the price of the 2023 Ranger yet. But you can expect the model to be better than the 2022 Ranger after the redesign and upgrades. The Super Cab models of the 2022 Ranger starts at an MSRP of $25,285 and the SuperCrew models start at an MSRP of $27,685.

Ford brought the current-generation Ranger back to the United States, but they didn’t bring the Ranger Raptor. This is about to change, though. Ford CEO Jim Farley said that the next generation of the Ranger Raptor would be sold in the United States. It should be like the world model that Ford showed off in February.

Which Engines Will the New Ford Ranger Get?
Ford released the Global Ranger with three different engine choices. All three were diesel and were not likely to be sold in the U.S. So that doesn’t give us much to go on in terms of a preview.
The best bet is that Ford will use the same base engine as the Bronco, a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four, just like it did with the Bronco. A twin-turbo V6 with 392 horsepower is going into the global Ranger Raptor. We’d bet that the engine in the American version is the same.
Will the Ford Ranger Get Hybrid and Electric Motors?
Ford has not yet said anything for sure. But we think the answer will be yes on both counts, if not at the start, then at some point. Ford’s plan to only sell hybrid and electric cars in Europe by 2026 suggests that they will turn the Ranger into an electric car.
In Europe, prototypes of the Ranger PHEV have been seen being tested. There are rumors that Ford and VW will work together to make an electric Ranger pickup for 2025. Ford also tried to get a trademark for the Ranger Lightning in Europe.

When Will the New Ford Ranger Arrive?
Ford CEO Jim Farley said that the Ranger and the Ranger Raptor will be available in the United States in 2023. The question is if it will be for the model year 2023 or 2024. Ford Authority says that a new Ranger will go into production in May 2023. This means that it will be a 2024 truck. That would probably mean it won’t be shown until late 2022 or early 2023.
2023 Ford Ranger Specs: Engine Options and Towing
The 2023 Ford Ranger will probably keep the same turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and 10-speed automatic transmission as the 2022 Ranger. The 2.3-liter turbo engine puts out 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. The Ranger will be available worldwide with diesel engine options and a manual transmission. But it’s not likely that these choices will be available in the U.S.
Most likely, the 2023 Ranger will have the same maximum towing capacity as the 2022 Ranger, which is 7,500 pounds. On the off-roading side, a Ranger Raptor model is expected to have the same twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 engine that is in the Ford Bronco.
